The geoVINUM application allows you to orient, inform and present your vineyard through interactive maps. Beyond the possibilities of the maps and the advantage of their digitization, one of the most interesting aspects of the application is the precision of the notions provided.

With this means you will be able to show with extreme precision the position of your vineyard, its characteristics, indications about the terroir and the production of your wine.

In fact, we must consider how each piece of information and each detail changes, making each product unique and original: this is the importance of precision in this environment!

Through this article we will analyze what a micro-terroir is and how we can explore this concept through our application.

What is the microterroir

First it is necessary to define the term micro-territory. When we talk about it, we mean a "micro", a small "terroir", that is to say a fraction of the territory (from 0.1 to 0.5 hectares) with special characteristics.

The aspects that concern this portion of land concern the land and the growing conditions of the plants, which combined with the management of the viticulture create a unique wine in value.

The analysis of the terroir of origin of the wine constitutes a rather important examination to determine precise and specific studies about the vine: the subdivision of the terroir between smaller parcels by studying the characteristics of each portion is an important practice.

Despite belonging to the same terroir, the division of the vineyard into smaller parts to manage and analyze, will allow an isolated study of a micro-terroir and its comparison with others, highlighting each change and difference.

How to value it?

Once you understand the importance of the micro-terroir in wine production, you cannot disregard the possibilities offered by the application. To enhance this method of examination and this rigor in wine analysis, meticulousness, attention to detail and clarity of information are necessary.

In order to enhance your micro-terroir, we must find a way to present it, to show the consumer your terroir and by illustrating the specific characteristics of each portion.

Only through a more specific study will it be possible to accurately describe the origin and development of the wine, recognizing the precise provenance that is reflected in the organoleptic characteristics.

Why will this make the difference?

As already said, the wine and its organoleptic characteristics are the fruit of a particular production, of a specific harvest and above all of a unique environment of the vine.

Defining the properties of the micro-terroir is essential if we consider that the characteristics of the terroir, the place and its conditions, can vary by a few metres.

The precision in the analysis of the product and its origin is therefore fundamental, also in the field of designations, highlighting more clearly the sense of geographical delimitation.

Indeed, a greater control, more detailed and specific, can not only help the definition of the product and result interesting in the eyes of the final consumer who will be more sure of the quality of the wine that he will taste.
