Accuracy of information is a fundamental aspect of our mapping technology. Our goal is to provide you with the most accurate data on wine geography.

How is this search for information going and why is it reliable compared to other platforms? This article aims to investigate the accuracy and provenance of the foundations of geoVINUM's cartographic project.

What data is represented?

The geoVINUM technology is based on a huge database which includes not only the list of appellations and vineyards but also and above all the polygons, that is to say the geographical areas which delimit these appellations.

Our various services and applications draw on this technology to offer various functionalities linked to cartography: localization of appellations, representation of the terroir, analysis of grape varieties... the uses are unlimited. The objective of the project is to make wine cartography interactive, allowing consumers to learn about the position from a geographical point of view but also giving relevant information relating to the properties of the vine and, consequently, of its wine. .

The interactive map, for this reason, allows to know more details of the wine houses, unions through mapping technologies, such as those used by Google: from the images, of a visual dimension, useful information is provided to the customer.

We are not limited to the characteristics of the vine and the vineyard, but we offer the possibility of relating to other viticultural realities, using official data from the world of oenology.

Where do they come from?

All our data comes first from official data. In France, for example, we collected data from the INAO.

Once collected, the data is checked, structured, sometimes corrected and enriched with other relevant data: the producers on these appellations, photographic databases or even statistical data.

When they do not come from official data, our data comes from scientific data and data from experts in the field.

Finally last source, the crossing and calculation of data. This is particularly the case for obtaining the average altitude of an appellation: on one side we have the polygon of the appellation, on the other the altitudes at different points and we cross these data.

Why are they reliable and fair?

Regarding the position of your vineyard, we carry out a perfect mapping for your requirements and on the basis of your information.

In addition, it is important to consider the importance of technology in the process of finding data: we base our images for localization on information from Google Earth, a recognized and responsible source. Regarding the characteristics of the vineyard, we pay attention to your communications and we refer to the INAO for notions of appellations and the cadastre.

Indeed, by relying on a giant in the oenological world, responsible for verifying French wine standards, you can't be wrong!

Our policy is interest in customer requirements and at the same time giving precise and specific information, the starting point in the analysis of the oenological world: attention to detail is one of our cornerstones, allowing you to provide a complete application in all aspects.
